These packages may appeal to groups on a tighter budget such as families; those who are confident enough in their physical abilities to not require vehicle support back up; or perhaps those making an extended South Island holiday who prefer to ‘do their own thing’.
Whatever the reason, you can rest assured our self guided cycle packages provide a well organised itinerary and transport/luggage arrangements with our carefully chosen trail partners, good quality bikes, and in many cases utilise the same welcoming accommodation hosts and venues that we use on our supported tours.
Before you book your trip it is important to understand the environment that you will be cycling through on your self guided cycle package. Please take the time to ready the information about each trail (in the overview tab), such as how far apart service towns are and if there are any places to replenish supplies along the way, to check if your abilities match up to the trail environment. Self-guided packages mean you are on your own if the weather turns bad or you have any issues. In some cases help can be arranged if you have any issues, though by and large you are responsible for managing your own groups safety and need to be well prepared for such.
