Value… that’s what you get when you join a PureTrails NZ cycling holiday. Comfortable lodging and hearty cuisine, local sightseeing and activities, outstanding guides, top-quality bicycles and full vehicle support. All combined to give you a fun, active, safe, and absolutely hassle-free South Island cycling holiday.
Adventure in comfort is our mantra. We understand the value of a good nights sleep and over the years we’ve spent a lot of time finding unique and memorable accommodation. On Pure Trails bike tours you won’t find any bunk rooms, huts or awkward substandard rooming arrangements. But you won’t end up in a luxury lodge either. We utilise accommodation that strikes the right balance between comfort and value. We stay at comfortable, clean, characterful and well-hosted accommodations including guesthouses, historic and country hotels, smart motels and lodges. Accommodation is based on double or twin-share rooms, with en-suite bathrooms. Singles are able to upgrade to a private room on most tour packages.
With over 15 years of experience under our belt, we know what makes an outstanding cycling holiday. Since 2003 when the company was launched by mother/daughter duo Sue & Hilary Weller, our mission has remained simple: to deliver exceptional, value for money, active cycle tour experiences, with superior personal service. Every tour participant is issued with an anonymous questionnaire to complete at the conclusion of their PureTrails bike tour, ensuring your feedback is voiced. And we listen. Every month the whole PureTrails team come together to re-evaluate client feedback, and as a result we are constantly striving to improve and fine tune our cycle tour experiences.
From your first call or email to the office to the last day of your bike tour, you’ll be well taken care of by the PureTrails team. We are here to help. In the office we are happy to answer all of your questions and help you work out your travel arrangements. Our guides are mature professionals experienced at leading our trips, and most have been working with us for many years. They have the knowledge and experience to adjust the daily schedule and route to better match the interests of your group. Our guides go out of their way to support you, whether it’s encouraging you to challenge yourself on the trail, giving you a lift in the van, or helping with your luggage (and the odd bits and pieces that are inevitably left behind!) Personal contact. Personal service.
We specialise in supported NZ cycling holidays in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand. We live here, play here, ride here, and know the country well. We have many stories to share to add a strong local flavour to your tour experience. Central to our philosophy is to introduce you to local people in the small communities we visit. Over the years we have built up a strong rapport with the local communities, and as a result you can be assured that you will be warmly welcomed wherever your trip takes you.
PureTrails is a family owned and operated outfit. We pool our various strengths and interests to ensure all aspects of our business are managed passionately and enthusiastically, which we feel leads to better, more personal, tour experiences. We enjoy our work; meeting and hosting guests on our tours; establishing relationships with our fantastic suppliers around the South Island; researching new areas; and all the organising and logistics that are involved in operating first class cycle tours. We consider it a privilege to show you the best of the South Island.
Most of our NZ cycling holidays have a maximum of 14 guests with one tour guide. With small groups we feel we really get to know our travel companions well and the sense of camaraderie that builds during a tour adds a special feel to the experience. Come with your friends or come alone and make new friends – everyone is made to feel welcome.
We take safety very seriously and over the years we have built up strong organisational culture around safety management. From high-vis safety signage on our vehicles and vests for cyclists, to safety briefings regarding the environment you will be travelling through, you can be assured PureTrails ‘has your back’ so you can relax and enjoy your adventure holiday. All our guides are trained in outdoor first aid and risk management and have the authority to adjust the activities on our trips if there are any safety concerns. Every month our team meets to identify any new potential hazards in the areas we visit and our activities, so that we can do everything possible to eliminate and minimise risk.
After you travel with Pure Trails New Zealand once you will understand why so many of our guests return time and time again. But don’t take our word for it – read independent reviews from our past guests. We love seeing our guests back again on new adventures, and so we reward all our returning guests with a discount voucher.
